1. Prepare Your Travel Documents and Train Tickets

Get to Chongqing West Station from Downtown Areas

To get to Chongqing West Railway Station from downtown Chongqing, you have three options. It depends a lot on what your location is. You can take a taxi, and of course, this way costs much higher than taking a subway or bus.

Currently, you have Metro Line 5 and Line 12 to take you to Chongqing West Station from the downtown areas. Buses are available as well, including No. 213, No. 441, No. 473, No. 499, No. 325, No. 504, and No.526.

Get to Chongqing West Station from Chongqing Airport

If you plan to get to Chongqingxi Railway Station from Chongqing Jiangbei Airport, you can take the Chongqing Airport Shuttle Bus Route K06. It takes around 1 hour and costs you about 20 CNY. Also, you can take a taxi, costing around 90 CNY to cover the distance of 36.5 kilometers.

Get to Chongqing West Station from Yangtze River Cruise Port

Subway can take you to Chongqing West Station from Yangtze River Cruise Port, namely Chaotianmen Port. The quickest choice is to take Metro Line 1 to Shiqiaopu and then transfer to Metro Line 5 inside the station. It has 13 stops in all and takes you about 43 minutes to get to the train station.

High-speed Train between Chongqing and Chengdu

The trains to Tibet depart from Chongqing on even days in a month, while the trains to Tibet departing from Chengdu on odd days. If there is no Chongqing to Lhasa train available on your travel date, you can stay one night longer in Chongqing or take a high-speed train to Chengdu and catch the train from Chengdu to Lhasa instead.

There are dozens of daily fast trains running between Chongqing and Chengdu. It takes about 1.5-2.5 hours to get to Chengdu from Chongqing. The first train to Chengdu from Chongqing departs at 7:30 am, and the last train leaves at 21:59 pm.
