  • How long does it take to travel from Xi’an to Lhasa by train?

    There are two daily trains from Xi’an to Lhasa, which respectively take around 31 hours and 33 hours to get to Lhasa. The No.265 train departs at 9:54 am from Xi’an Railway Station and arrives at Lhasa Railway Station at 16:45 pm on the second day, while the other train of No. Z165 runs from 11:22 am to 19:35 pm. Therefore, if you plan to join in a group tour in Tibet, you need to reserve at least two days for the train ride before the fixed departure date of your Tibet tour.

  • Where is Xi’an Railway Station and how to get there?

    Xi’an Railway Station is located on Huancheng Road, to the north of the ancient City Wall, just 3.5km from the city center. To get to Xi’an Railway Station from the downtown, one can take Metro Line 1 or Metro Line 4 as a convenient and time-saving option. There are also frequent buses running to the station from each district of the city. If you leave from the Xianyang International Airport, you can take the airport shuttle bus which runs between the airport terminals and the Jiefang Hotel, near the train station.

  • What to eat onboard the Xi’an-Lhasa train?

    All Tibet trains are provided with designated dinning carriages, serving fresh-cooked traditional Chinese dishes and Tibetan cuisine for passengers onboard. If you don’t want to leave from your seat, you can buy the convenient boxed meals which will sold on food trolley at meal times. There are also snacks or beverages in the food trolley sold from time to time by the trainman. Besides, passengers can get off the train to buy some local food at the platform when the Tibet train stops on a certain station. If you don’t get used to Chinese dishes, you can also buy some food or snacks before you board the train.
