What documents do I need for a trip to India, Bhutan, Nepal and Tibet together?
Of cause, you need visas for the trip in India, Nepal and Bhutan. It is easy and convenient to apply for India Visa and Nepal Visa. To get a visa for Bhutan, you need to book your trip in Bhutan with a local travel agency and let them apply for the visa on your behalf.
For the trip in Tibet, you need to apply for both Chinese Visa and Tibet Travel Permit, or you cannot enter Tibet. Like the visa for Bhutan, Tibet travel permit can be only applied through a travel agency, which mean individual application will not be accepted by the Bureau. Beside Tibet Travel Permit (also known as TTP permit or Tibet Visa), there are some extra travel permits you may need to have according to your travel route in Tibet, such as the Alien’s Travel Permit for an Everest Base Camp tour or the Military Permit for a trip to Mount Kailash.
Where to start a journey to these Himalaya Kingdoms?
If you plan to visit India, Nepal, Bhutan and Tibet together, it is suggested to start your journey from India or Tibet. Since there is no direct flight between Bhutan and Tibet, the best travel route is Indian – Bhutan – Nepal – Tibet or vice versa.
It is quite convenient to take flight to Bhutan from both India and Nepal. And to get to Tibet, there is only one international flight that from Kathmandu.
For those who already have a Chinese visa, it is recommended to start the journey from Tibet, because if you enter Tibet from Nepal, you need to apply for another special group visa, and the former visa you already got will be cancelled once the group visa issued.
