Your journey kicks off with two delightful days in Chengdu, where you can soak up the city’s laid-back vibe and visit the beloved giant pandas. After that, you’ll make your way to Xining for a spectacular train ride into Tibet, where stunning vistas of towering mountains, lush grasslands, and serene lakes await.

In Tibet, you’ll traverse the classic route from Lhasa to Everest Base Camp, immersing yourself in the rich history of the Potala Palace, exploring remarkable temples, and soaking in the breathtaking views of the world’s highest peak and the enchanting Yamdrok Lake. This tour is not just a trip; it’s a journey of spiritual growth and awe-inspiring moments!

Itinerary Day by Day

Day 1: Arrival in Chengdu

Welcome to Chengdu! Upon your arrival, a local travel guide will greet you at the airport and take you to your hotel in the city center. After checking in, you have the freedom to relax or explore the nearby area at your own pace. For your leisure time, consider visiting popular spots like Chunxi Road or Tai Koo Li.

Day 2: Chengdu City Tour and Train to Xining (B, D)

In the morning, your guide will take you to the Chengdu Panda Breeding and Research Center, where you can see both adult and baby pandas enjoying their bamboo breakfast. This expansive 230-hectare park, located about 10 km from the city, features a panda museum and offers around 2.5 hours of exploration.

In the afternoon, you’ll visit Kuanzhai Alley for a leisurely stroll and souvenir shopping, then head to Renmin Park to unwind with a cup of tea amidst the local community. Later, you’ll board an overnight train to Xining, accompanied by your guide, ensuring a comfortable journey.

Day 3: Train to Xining and Transfer to Lhasa via Tibet Train (B, L)

Upon arrival in Xining, your local guide will welcome you at the train station and take you to a local restaurant for a traditional breakfast. Next, you’ll visit Ta’er Monastery, known as Kumbum Monastery, the birthplace of Tsongkhapa, a renowned Tibetan Buddhist master. You’ll also explore the Dongguan Mosque, the largest in Qinghai, showcasing a blend of architectural styles. Afterward, you’ll catch your overnight train to Lhasa, so please arrive at the station at least an hour before departure with your passport and Tibet Travel Permit.

Tibet Train Travel Tips:
1. Your package includes a soft sleeper train ticket from Xining to Lhasa.

2. There’s a dining car on board offering simple Chinese dishes, but feel free to bring snacks.

3. Trains to Tibet are equipped with oxygen supply systems, so don’t worry about altitude sickness.

Day 4: Scenic Journey along the Qinghai-Tibet Railway and Arrive in Lhasa

Today, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views along the Qinghai-Tibet Railway. As you pass through Nagchu, keep an eye out for locals and yaks by the tracks, with stunning snow-capped peaks appearing on the horizon. Upon reaching Lhasa, your local guide will meet you at the train station and transfer you to your hotel, offering beautiful views of the Yarlung Tsangpo River and traditional Tibetan villages along the way. After settling in, take time to acclimate to the altitude and stay hydrated. Later, your guide will present you with traditional Tibetan gifts and introduce you to your fellow travelers.

Day 5: Lhasa Day Tour: Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery (B, D)

Your day begins with a visit to Drepung Monastery, Tibet’s largest, which once housed over ten thousand monks. You’ll explore Coqen Hall and learn about Tibetan Buddhism and its prominent figures. Then, visit Loseling College within Drepung to understand the monks’ practices. In the afternoon, head to Sera Monastery, established in 1419, where you can witness the famous monk debates that are vital for their academic progress. Enjoy a welcome dinner with your group members later in the evening.

Day 6: Lhasa Day Tour: Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple & Barkhor Street (B)

After breakfast, your guide will take you to the iconic Potala Palace, where you can admire its grandeur and learn about the Dalai Lamas' history. Next, visit Longwangtan Park for a unique view of the palace and to experience Tibetan culture. In the afternoon, explore Jokhang Temple, the spiritual heart of Tibet, where you can see the revered 12-year-old statue of Shakyamuni Buddha. Walk around Barkhor Street, where you can participate in the kora with local Tibetans. Finally, enjoy sweet Tibetan tea at a lively tea house and learn about daily life in Tibet.

Day 7: Lhasa - Gyantse - Shigatse (B, L)

After exploring Lhasa, you’ll travel to Shigatse, Tibet's second-largest city. First, visit Yamdrok Lake from Gambala Mountain Pass, a stunning site with views of Mount Noijin Kangsang. You’ll have lunch with a local family in a nearby village. Then, see the Karola Glacier before heading towards Gyantse, where you can take photos of the ancient city. As you approach Shigatse, enjoy views of lush barley fields before checking into your hotel to prepare for your Everest journey.

Day 8: Shigatse to Everest Base Camp (B)

After breakfast, you’ll set off toward Mount Everest, starting with views from Gyatsola Pass, where you’ll catch your first glimpse of the peak. Continue to Gawula Pass for panoramic views of the Himalayas, including Everest and Lhotse. As you approach Everest Base Camp, each turn reveals the majestic mountain closer. At base camp, enjoy breathtaking views as the sun sets, creating golden hues against Everest’s peak.

Day 9: EBC - Dinggye - Sakya - Shigatse (D)

After admiring Everest, visit Rongbuk Monastery, the highest in the world, before returning to Shigatse via Dinggye. Stop at the Dinggye Xilin Viewpoint for spectacular views of Everest and Lhotse. Enjoy a leisurely stroll in Sakya Ancient Town before returning to Shigatse for a traditional Tibetan performance and dinner with your group.

Day 10: Shigatse - Nyemo - Lhasa (B)

In the morning, explore Tashilhunpo Monastery, the residence of the Panchen Lama, featuring the world’s largest Maitreya Buddha statue. Afterward, return to Lhasa along the Yarlung Tsangpo River, a revered Tibetan landmark.

Day 11: Departure from Lhasa (B)
