After spending two full days of sightseeing in Beijing, you will  take an overnight train to Lhasa to go sightseeing. Then head for holy Mt. Kailash via Mount Everest Base Camp and trek circuit around Mount Kailash for three days. At last, we will get back to Lhasa.

Itinerary Day by Day

Day1 Arrive in Beijing

A private car will take you to your Hotel in Beijing,you could have a rest in your hotel or looking around in Beijing on your own.

Day2 Beijing Sightseeing: Great Wall at Badaling, Ming Tombs-Changling (B)

Today you will visit the majestic Great Wall (Badaling section) and the Chang Tomb of Ming Tombs. You will be taken on a group tour to the Great Wall, the most famous symbol of China and one of the world’s most remarkable architectural wonders. This section was first built during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644 AD).

Then you will visit to the Ming Tomb the burial site of the emperor Wanli, the 13th emperor of the Ming Dynasty who ruled for 48 years until his death in 1620.

Day3 Beijing Sightseeing: Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, and Summer Palace, and take train to Lhasa (B)

Today you will first visit the historic Tiananmen Square which is the largest city square in the world and the spiritual heart of China, and then the magnificent Forbidden City which located in the center of Beijing and used to be the imperial palace of the Ming and Qing dynasties with a history of around 600 years.

In the afternoon, you will visit the fine Summer Palace and Temple of Heaven. Summer Palace was an imperial summer resort of the Qing Dynasty. it is the most splendid classical garden in China. The Temple of Heaven is a royal sacred site where prayers for good harvests, prosperity and harmonious life are offered.

In the evening, you will be transferred to the Beijing West train station for the train to Lhasa.  Train Z21 from Beijing to Lhasa departs at 20:10. The train departs from Beijing West Railway Station. It takes about 1 hour to check in as the train takes about 1000 passengers. Please be sure to arrive in train station 1 hour and a half before the train departure. Your Tibet Permit will need to be checked when you check in.

Day4 On the Train to Lhasa

It is quite a long journey from Beijing to Lhasa by train that will take 43 hours, two days and two nights in the Train. On the first day you will pass through two important provincial capital cities in northwest China, Lanzhou and Xining. Xining is known as the beginning of Qinghai-Tibet Railway. Travelling along the rail line, you could see the scenery of countryside and cities in northwest China. The last stop for today is Xining, where you will arrive at about 15:10.

Day5 Sightseeing along the railway, arrival Lhasa

Today, you will witness the most beautiful scenery of Qinghai-Tibet Railway, spectacular land of snows, boundless desert, vast grassland, grand ice mountains, beautiful lakes that will continually appear and strongly attract your heart.

You will arrive in Lhasa at about 13:03. Your tour guide will hold a board with your name on it to welcome you at the exit of the train station and escort you from the train station to your reserved hotel in Lhasa.

Day6 Lhasa Sightseeing: Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and Barkhor Street (B)

Morning section to visit the famous Potala Palace and explore the grandest of this myriad chapels, you will experience its audience halls, the jeweled and Golden burial chortens(stupa Tombs) of past Dalai Lamas, and tremendous number of Buddhist frescoes, thangkas, combinations of mandala etc.

Afternoon section visiting to the holist temple in Tibet, the Jokhang Temple, built during songtsen gonpo's reign by princess wencheng of tang dynasty, 647 A.D, and its famous Barkor Kora, where you can buy or appreciate traditional Tibetan artifacts, religious implements, antiques, books, Tibetan music instrument, Thangkas, and tradition tibetan clothes etc. you will have chance to get close to appreciate how the artists draw Thangkas at the Thakangka workroom at Barkhor.

Day7 Lhasa Sightseeing: Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery (B)

Today, you will visit two important monasteries in Lhasa, the Drepung and the Sera. Drepung monastery is situated at the foothill of a mountain and was founded by Jamyang Choeje in 1416. It was once home of 10000 monks and Ganden podrang in Drepung is famous it was the government centre during fifth dalai lama and later moved to the famous potala palace during fifth dalai lama.

After having lunch, continue to visit the Sera Monastery, which was founded in 1419 by Tsongkapa's disciple Jamchen Choeje. The most attractive is that Monks debiting is held there in the courtyard at around 3-5 in the afternoon section most of the time.

Day8 Lhasa - Yamdrotso Lake - Gyangtse (B)

Passing by the green farmland of Nyangchu Valley, Yamdro-tso lakes, karo-la glacier roadside at 4960m, We move westwards to the second biggest city Shigatse, the Area spiritually hosted by Pamchan Lama.

The most important attraction for today is Yamdro-tso Lake and Kubum monastery in Gyantse. Yamdro-tso Lake is shaped like coiling scorpion with deep blue in colour and Kubum monastery has a 35m-high chorten (stupa) with its white layers trimmed with decorative stripes and its crown-like golden dome.

Day9 Shigatse to EBC 350 km(B)

In the morning, we will visit the home of Panchan Lama - Tashilunpo Monastery. It is largest monastery of the Gelug Sect in Rear Tibet, and the main stage where generations of Panchen Lamas carried out religious and political activities. After getting your Alien’s travel permit, we will leave Shigatse and then drive to Lhatse for lunch.

After that, we’ll drive over Tsola Pass(4600M), and Gyatsola Pass(5248M). At Kyawula Pass(5180m), tourists can view the panorama of Himalaya. Then we’ll drive along the new zigzag road to Everest Base Camp and get closer to Mt. Everest peak. You are lucky enough to catch the sunset of golden Everest peak if time and weather permits at the lodging area.

Day10 EBC–Saga (450km)

In the morning, you can enjoy the stunning sunrise of Everest Peak at lodging area if weather permits. While we drive towards Saga, you can catch the vew of the worlds’14th highest peak Mt.Shishapangma(8012m) and beautiful turquoise Lake Peiku tso(4590m). Chances are that you can see wild animals like wild donkey, wild antelope etc.

Stay overnight in Saga Xibuyizhan Hotel or Mu Linsen hotel.

Day11 Saga to Darchen via Lake Manasarover (450km)

In the morning, you can appreciate the stunning view of the Saga valley between Gangdise Range and Himayala Range. Meanwhile, you can also view the beautiful grassland and local's villages along the way. While crossing the Mayomla Pass(5112M), you can catch the far view of Mt. Naimonanyi(7694M). Then we’ll pass by the holy Lake Manasarover and finally arrive at the southern foot of Mt.Kailash, the holist mountain in Tibet.

Stay overnight in Tarchen Chongqing Hotel.

Day12 Darchen-Drirapuk (driving 7km, trek 13km)

In the morning, tourists can take environment friendly bus from Darchen to Sarshung valley. And you’ll meet yak and porter at Sarshung village. (the cost of hiring yaks, horses, and porters are not included in the package.)

After that, you can start the trek (around 13km) from Sarshung to Drirapuk Monastery along the Lachu valley and rivers. Today, you can see both west and north face of mountain Kailash. Finally, we’ll pay a visit to Drirapuk Monastery.

Day13 Drirapuk-Dzutrpuk (trek 18km)

Today, we’ll trek over Dromala pass, the highest pass of the Kora. On the way, you can have a break in a teahouse. Besides, you’ll meet the locals prostrating in the Kora path. When walking downhill, you can see beautiful Kadoe Lake. Then we’ll visit Zutulpuk Monastery.

Day14 Dzutripuk-Darchen (trek 7km, driving 5km)

Today, we’ll trek 7km to Zongto where you can take bus to Darchen. Along the Kora, you can see piles of Mani Stones. Finally, we’ll end the trek around noon and rest in the lodging place.

Stay overnight in Tarchen Chongqing Hotel.

Taking bath in Lake Manasarova and enjoy hot spring.

Day15 Darchen-Saga (450km)

Drive from Darchen to Saga via Lake Manasorova.

Stay overnight in Saga Xibuyizhan Hotel or Mu Linsen hotel.

Day16 Saga to Sakya (350km)

Drive from Saga to Sakya.

Stay overnight in Sakya Yuan Fu Hotel.

Day17 Sakya to Shigatse (170km)

In the morning, we’ll pay a visit to ancient Sakya town and Sakya Monastery with amazing murals and huge collection of scriptures and statues. Then we’ll drive from Sakya to Shigatse.

Stay overnight in Manasarovar Hotel.

Days18 Shigatse-Lhasa (B)

Today, we’ll follow Yalong Valley back to Lhasa. Standing on the platform, you can view the vast Yalong River bed. And then you can visit Water Mill making Tibetan Incense material (in Summer, if time permits). Finally we’ll drop you off at hotel in Lhasa.

Stay overnight in Lhasa (3-Star Hotel).

Day19 Depart from Lhasa (B)

The driver will take you to airport or train station.

The tour is also available for tourists who start in Lhasa and end in Kyirong border, so if the group has members to exit Tibet to Nepal from Kyirong, we will see them off at the Sino-Nepal border, thus the itinerary from the Day 11 will be done with valuable detour to Kyirong, which will give you one extra destination to Kelong Valley, this destination is considered the most beautiful valley at the foot of Himalaya Mountain Range and attracts many tourists a year.
