Itinerary Day by Day

Day 1: Arrive in Lhasa

Start your amazing trip as you land in Lhasa, Tibet's heart. You'll be warmly welcomed at the airport or train station by our local guide who'll present you with a Hada, a traditional scarf that's a sign of good luck for your journey.

On your way to the hotel in downtown Lhasa, enjoy the beautiful sights of the Yarlung Tsangpo and Lhasa River, and see quaint Tibetan villages.

Once you get to your hotel, take it easy to get used to the high altitude. Rest up, move around at your own pace, and drink plenty of water to help your body adjust the high altitude.

Later in the day, your guide will give you some cool Tibetan gifts and useful tips for your trip. You'll also meet the rest of the people in your tour group.

Day 2: Exploring Lhasa - Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and Barkhor Street (B)

After breakfast, begin your day with a trip to the magnificent Potala Palace, which offers stunning views of Lhasa. Listen as your guide recounts the histories of the Dalai Lamas and shows you around the palace's many halls and treasures. And then, you’ll participate in the folk activities of the local Tibetan people at the Longwangtan Park near the Potala Palace.

In the afternoon, head to the sacred Jokhang Temple, home to the remarkable statue of the 12-year-old Shakyamuni Buddha. Afterwards, take a walk around Barkhor Street to see the religious customs of the local Tibetans.

Finish your day with a tour to visit a bustling Tibetan tea house in Lhasa to enjoy some sweet tea and learn about Tibetan social customs.

End your day with a welcome dinner in a local Tibetan style restaurant.

Day 3: Lhasa to Shigatse Via Gyantse (B,L)

After breakfast, you'll set off from Lhasa to Shigatse, Tibet's second-largest city.

Your first stop is Yamdrok Lake, one of Tibet's three sacred lakes. From the Gambala Pass, you'll be treated to breathtaking views of the lake, resembling a blue ribbon against the landscape, with the majestic Mount Nyenchen Khangsar towering in the background.

Toward the lake’s end, you’ll have a chance to enjoy lunch with a welcoming local family in the village.

Later, you'll pass by the Karola Glacier, enjoying its roadside beauty. Next, you'll arrive in Gyantse, once the third-largest city in Tibet after Lhasa and Shigatse. In Gyantse, you'll visit the renowned Pelkor Monastery and the Gyantse Kumbum, and take in a distant view of the historic Gyantse Fortress.

Finally, you’ll arrive in Shigatse. After checking in to the hotel, you can take a good rest and prepare for the next day’s trip to Mount Everest.

Day 4: Shigatse to Tingri (B)

Begin the day with a visit to Tashilhunpo Monastery, the traditional seat of the Panchen Lama and home to the world’s largest statue of Maitreya Buddha. If you are lucky, you might witness a Dharma ceremony held in the temple.

After exploring the monastery, you’ll set off for Tingri, traveling over Tso-La (4500m) and Gyatso-La (5252m) passes. Once in Tingri, take time to prepare for your trek and rest for the adventure ahead.

Day 5: Trek from Tingri to Lungjang (B, L, D)

Your 13 km trekking adventure begins as you hike across the Tingri plain, passing through the scenic valleys at the base of the Himalayas. Along the way, you’ll pass meadows, villages, temples, and flocks of sheep. In the summer and autumn months, streams fed by Cho Oyu bring life to the green grasslands, offering a glimpse into the traditional lifestyle of local shepherds.

Camping in Lungjang.

Day 6: Trek from Lungjang to Lamna-la Pass (B, L, D)

Starting from Longjiang Village, today’s journey spans approximately 21 kilometers and takes around 8 to 9 hours, with an elevation gain of about 900 meters. The route leads us over the 5,100-meter Langla Pass, where we’ll set up camp just below the summit.

After breakfast, we follow a scenic valley trail through verdant meadows and snow-fed streams. As the day progresses, the path grows steeper and more demanding, guiding us into the high mountains. With each step upward, the landscape expands—the valley widens, and the towering presence of Cho Oyu becomes ever more striking. Upon reaching Langla Pass, you’ll be rewarded with sweeping views of Cho Oyu and the surrounding Himalayan peaks—an unforgettable panorama and the first major high-altitude highlight of the trek.

Day 7: Trek from Lamna-la to to Tashi Phu Village (B,L,D)

Today’s trek brings you even closer to Mount Everest, covering roughly 18 kilometers over the course of about 7 hours, with the route staying near the 5,000-meter elevation mark. After crossing Langla Pass (5,100 m), we continue along rugged high-altitude trails, winding past remote villages, grazing yaks, and flocks of sheep.

For those eager for an extra challenge, an optional side hike to 5,200 meters leads to the Everest Viewpoint—a spectacular vantage offering an up-close view of Everest and its neighboring giants. From there, we make our descent to camp near Tashi Phu Village, the nearest inhabited settlement to Everest and our resting point for the night.

Day 8: Trek to Rongbuk Monastery and Everest Base Camp (B)

On your final day of trekking, you’ll reach the iconic Rongbuk Monastery, the highest monastery in the world at 5,030 meters. From here, continue to Everest Base Camp, where the awe-inspiring pyramid of Mount Everest stands before you. As the sun sets, enjoy the golden glow on Everest’s northern face.

Day 9: Everest - Gawula Pass - Tingri - Shigatse (B,D)

After a memorable morning at Everest Base Camp, you’ll drive back to Shigatse. Along the way, stop at Gawula Pass for panoramic views of the Himalayas. From here, you’ll enjoy a sweeping panoramic view of the Himalayas, where the five tallest peaks, each rising above 8,000 meters, stand proudly in a majestic line.

Upon returning to Shigatse, your guide will lead you to Langma Hall, where you’ll be treated to an authentic Tibetan song and dance performance. Afterwards, you can relax and enjoy dinner with your fellow group members.

Overnight in Shigatse.

Day 10: Shigatse to Lhasa; Depart from Lhasa (B)

Your adventure comes to a close as you travel from Shigatse back to Lhasa. Your guide will transfer you to the airport or railway station for your departure.
