10 Days Lhasa to Everest Base Camp and Namtso Lake Small Group Tour

Lhasa - Gyantse - Shigatse - EBC - Shigatse - Lhasa - Namtso - Lhasa

From USD1269 p.p

As the award-winning EBC tour operator, Tibet Vista designs this classic tour visiting the highest mountain and the highest saline lake in the world without abrupt altitude increase. At first, you will stay in Lhasa to adapt to the high altitude and visit must-see attractions like Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Drepung and Sera Monastery. Then you will visit Yamdrok Lake, Pelkor Monastery in Gyantse, and Tashilunpo Monastery in Shigatse on the way from Lhasa (3,650m) to EBC (5,200m). A route arrangement like this effectively alleviate altitude sickness caused by sharp altitude change.

After coming back to Lhasa, you will head for the highest saline lake - Lake Namtso (4,718m). Along the way, you can see Tibetan nomads, grazing sheep, and the “Sky Road” Qinghai-Tibet Railway. You also have time to walk leisurely around the turquoise Namtso Lake against the background of the snow-capped Nyenchen Tanggula Mountain Range.

Cultural Tips: Tibetan Buddhists believe that the corpse is nothing but a discarded shell, and offering their bodies to vultures is an offering of generosity back to the earth that gave them life. The master of the sky burial ceremony will perform rituals over the body, summon vultures by burning incense and tsampa, and dispose of the body into pieces. Sky burial is a private and sacred matter, it is not recommended to go to sky burial sites or take pictures.
