Then back to Paro, you will experience a challenging but worthwhile trekking to Taktsang Monastery, one of Bhutan's most sacred religious sites. Itinerary Day by Day

Day1 Arrive in Paro; Transfer to Thimphu

When you arrive in Paro International Airport, your tour guide will meet you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel in Thimphu. It takes about 2 hours to reach Thimphu. The rest of the day is for you to take a rest in the hotel or stroll around.

Stay overnight in Thimphu.

Day2 Thimphu Sightseeing: Drubthob Goemba Nunnery, National Memorial Chorten, National Library

Today you will first have a sightseeing in Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan. You will visit the Drubthob Goemba Nunnery, also called Zilukha nunnery, which houses around 70 resident nuns, and the National Memorial Chorten (Thimphu Chorten), one of the most prominent religious structures in Bhutan.

After that, you will visit the National Library and Folk Heritage Museum. The National Library of Bhutan collects a large number of the religious and cultural texts of the Bhutanese people, while the Folk Heritage Museum can allow tourists to have a glimpse into the rural Bhutanese life. If time permit in the afternoon you can visit Thimpu Dzhong, which is the administrative headquarter of Bhutan.

Then late in the afternoon, you will drive back to Paro from Thimphu.

Day3 Trek from Paro to Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest Monastery)

Today, you will trek from Paro Valley to Taktsang Monastery, which is commonly known as Tiger's Nest. Standing 3000 meters high on the cliff, it is one of the most sacred sites in Bhutan. It is said that the Guru Rinpoche once flew here from Tibet on the back of a tigress.

The trekking to Taktsang is a challenging one and you can choose to reach there by walking or horseback. Starting with a gentle forest climb, you will pass a creek and some prayer wheels, as the trail gets steeper and steeper.

On the way, there is a nice tea house where you have a short rest and have a great view of the monastery. As you continue your trek, you will climb to the viewing point which is the best place to take photos of Taktsang. After that, the trail goes down until you make it to the entrance. Please note that you will be required to leave your backpacks, phones and cameras during the visit.

After visiting the monastery, trek down the mountain and head back to Paro.

Stay overnight in Paro.

Day4 Depart from Paro

Today, the guide will transfer you to the airport, then you can take your flight home or your next destination.
