This tour leads you to experience the classic Beijing-Tibet train and the epic Lhasa to Kathmandu overland tour with a detour to Sakya Monastery, the principal monastery of Sakya Sect in Tibetan Buddhism.
After about 40 hours’ train journey from Beijing, you will arrive in the holy Lhasa City, the political and religious center of Tibet Autonomous Region. At first, you will spend 2 days in Lhasa visiting iconic attractions like Potala Palace and Jokhang Temple, Drepung and Sera Monastery. Then, continue your trip to Everest Base Camp via Gyantse and Sakya. Along the way, you can appreciate Yamdrok Lake and Karola Glacier, visit Kumbum Stupa, Tashilunpo Monastery, and Sakya Monastery. Different from Gelug Sect monasteries you have visited before, Sakya Monastery possesses a special architecture style which will broaden your understanding about Tibetan Buddhism. Head for Mount Everest from Sakya, after an overnight stay at EBC, you will take the car ride to China-Nepal crossing border Gyirong Port via the lush green Gyirong Valley, and exit the border with the assistance of our Tibetan guide.
