The 8-day Beijing and Tibet tour is a class route covering the most popular attractions in both Beijing and Lhasa. You will first explore the imperial capital city of China, and then experience the unique Tibetan culture and religion in the holy city of Tibet.

The tour will not only take you to visit the well-known Great Wall, Forbidden City and Summer Palace, a series of world heritages revealing profound culture, but also will let you to explore the particular Hutong to learn the folk culture of Beijing city. While in Lhasa, you will discover the mysterious and spiritual realm of Tibet by visiting the prestigious Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Sera and Drepung Monastery, as well as experience a distinctive local life in Barkhor Street.

Itinerary Day by Day

Day1 Arrive in Beijing

A private car will take you to your Hotel in Beijing,you could have a rest in your hotel or looking around in Beijing on your own.

Day2 Beijing Sightseeing: Great Wall at Badaling, Ming Tombs - Changling

Today you will visit the majestic Great Wall (Badaling section) and the Changling Tomb of Ming Tombs. You will be taken on a group tour to the Great Wall, the most famous symbol of China and one of the world’s most remarkable architectural wonders. This section was first built during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644 AD).

Then you will visit the Ming Tombs, the burial site of the emperor Zhuli, the third emperor of the Ming Dynasty who ruled for 22 years until his death in 1424.

Day3 Beijing Sightseeing: Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City & Summer Palace

Today you will first visit the historic Tiananmen Square which is the largest city square in the world and the spiritual heart of China, and then the magnificent Forbidden City which located in the center of Beijing and used to be the imperial palace of the Ming and Qing dynasties with a history of around 600 years.

In the afternoon, you will visit the fine Summer Palace. Summer Palace was an imperial summer resort of the Qing Dynasty. It is the most splendid classical garden in China.

Day4 Free Time to Tour Hutong

Today, you will visit the Hutong, the traditional courtyard residence in narrows alleys in Beijing. It is a great place to know the folk culture and old quarters of Beijing city. It is recommended to explore the Nanluoguxiang, one of the most famous Hutongs in Beijing.

You will find a variety of cafes, kiosks selling different kinds of food and beverages and souvenir shops while strolling in the busting alleys. A great way to tour Hutong is to enjoy a ride on a traditional rickshaw, which can will take you to cover all the historical significance.

In the afternoon, you can do some shopping in Beijing and get prepared for the flight to Lhasa on the next morning.

Day5 Fly from Beijing to Lhasa; Arrive in Lhasa

Today, you will take a flight to Lhasa from Beijing. Upon your arrival at Lhasa Gonggar Airport, your tour guide will greet you and take you to the reserved hotel. You may view the Yarlung Tsangpo River / Bhamaputra River (the Longest and largest river in Tibet) and Lhasa River on their way to Lhasa. The rest of the time is for you to take a rest and get acclimatized to high altitude.

Day6 Lhasa Sightseeing: Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, and Barkhor Street (B)

In the morning, you’ll pay a visit to the famous Potala Palace, the world culture heritage. You can explore its audience halls, the jeweled and golden burial chortens (stupa Tombs) of past Dalai Lamas, and tremendous number of Buddhist frescoes, thangkas, combinations of mandala, etc.

Then tourists will head to the holiest temple in Tibet, the Jokhang Temple, built during Songtsen Ganpo's reign by princess Wencheng of Tang dynasty, 647 A.D. Here you can observe sincere pilgrims making prostration in front of Jokhang Temple. While entering inside the temple, you can see the holiest statue of Buddha. Around the monastery is the famous Barkhor Street, where you can do the kora with pilgrims and locals. And then we’ll go to explore the old market and you may have chance to see the traditional jewelry trading between people from different part of Tibet.

Day7 Lhasa Sightseeing: Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery (B)

Today, you will visit two important monasteries in Lhasa, the Drepung and the Sera. Drepung Monastery, the largest monastery in Tibet, was founded by Jamyang Choeje in 1416. Situated at the foot of Gebeiwoze Mountain, it was once home to more than 10000 monks. Here you can see the biggest monastery kitchen inside and then pay a visit to the Buddhist Sculpture Carving near Drepung.

After having lunch, you’ll continue to visit the Sera Monastery, which was founded in 1419 by Tsongkapa's disciple Jamchen Choeje. The most interesting thing is to see monks debating in the courtyard at around 3-5 in the afternoon. Besides, you can also see the colorful Rock Painting of Buddha and the three sand Mandalas and then visit the Tibetan religious text printing house.

Day8 Depart from Lhasa

The driver will take you to airport or train station.
